Learn the River MONTHLY MEETINGS Banquet 2024

Mike Ferris Alsea September 11, 2024 I think he said about a 30 pounder

Mike Ferris, fly fishing in Montana September 2023 ..........The Rainbows here are as big as a small Steelhead!  This one was right at 20 inches.

New Years Day January 1, 2024. Mike & Tony Frolov hooked 9 fish, landed and released four. They also hooked and released several real nice trout on the day trip.
They are shuttle clients of Bob Lusk. No argument for a great day of fishin' , both the weather and fishing were cooperating ! !

Both photos are the same fish.  It was caught on the Wilson river near the Windy Bend,
Tillamook, OR. He didn’t get a weight because he cleaned it on the river. It was 33”
and close to 4 pounds of eggs. He put a tape to it so I could remember. He said
"The biggest hatchery steelhead I’ve ever caught". A product of a broodstock program.

A WHALE OF A TALE ---Jon Bielstein, about a fishing trip a few months ago in Cabo, Mexico.

Sorry, I have no pictures from this trip. I went out fishing in a panga boat. They are like a cross between a dory and driftboat. 21' long, center console, and 100HP motor. We were trolling hoochies about a 100' behind the boat for 'sierra' which is about the size of a steelhead. There are lots and lots of whales in Cabo this time of year. They migrate from Alaska, along the Oregon coast, and down there to have their babies. Whale watching tours are big business in Cabo. Sally & I have been lucky enough to have a whale come up next to the boat and touch it!
Anyway, A whale surfaced right behind the boat and snagged my hoochie. I had a 7' 30-40# Ugly Stik rod with a Shimano Calcutta reel loaded with 80# braid. It had nearly spooled me when the captain came back and cut the line with a big knife. A whale of a Tale!! I did catch some Sierra on hoochies and a couple roosterfish with the live bait that I bought.
Looking forward to some river trips. See you guys next month.

If you know a more mature person you may enjoy this. This happened yesterday and is important information for our age group ?
A man had his 2nd dose of the vaccine at the vaccination center after which he began to have blurred vision on the way home.
When he got home, he called the vaccination center for advice,  and asked if he should see a doctor, or be hospitalized.
He was told: "not to go to a doctor or a hospital, just return to the vaccination center and pick up his glasses."
Now there is a reel "knee slapper".

This is not really material for this page. I just snuck it in until someone submits a fish photo or fish story to replace it.

This page under construction

please submit fish stories and photos to Glenn Tadina, Secretary to post

include location & date

As you can see, we have plenty room for more.

We are in need of current braggin board photos

A short paragraph to accompany the photo would be great

We have some whale photos from a trip to Alaska that will be posted soon.
